While Ireland embraces a full national lockdown and with schools closed it is vital to encourage kids to keep active every day for physical, mental and emotional health! But this is encouraged for all you family during these uncertain times.
Why exercise is vital! Families play an important role in:
- decreasing the chance of childhood obesity
- decreasing the risk of children developing chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease
- helping children to build strong muscles, healthy bones, agility and co-ordination
- improving the self-esteem, mood, energy and sleep patterns of children
Kids need to be active every day especially while at home. All activity, no matter how short, counts – whether it’s organised sports online or active play at home.
FitKidz with Heidi provides one-to-one online support. This could ideally set up a plan for your child and a daily routine for with a workout plan, a daily check-in and and nutritional advise.
Everyday children from the age of 6 should exercise at a moderate to vigorous level, for at least 60 minutes every day. Moderate activity is when breathing and heart rate increase, but a conversation is still possible. Vigorous activity is when breathing becomes heavy, heart rate becomes faster and it’s difficult to keep a conversation going. Exercises such as skipping, jumping jacks, running and fast cycling can increase the heart-rate. Music is also a great motivator and I cannot recommend dancing as a great active exercise for all kids!
Creativity is the freedom to commit themselves completely to the effort and make whatever activity they are doing their own. Creativity also fosters mental growth in children by providing opportunities for trying out new ideas, and new ways of thinking and problem-solving. These are Life skills!
FitKidz with Heidi has an array of online classes, after school support and creativity hubs that are confidence building and teaches important life skills and no better time while kids are at home. These classes are designed uniquely for kids in restrictions and provide a service for when children are finished or need a break from school work. It is a fantastic way to keep kids busy, occupied and learning new fun creative things!
